Lifestyle Changes

Time for some Monday motivation?

The new year is around the corner and that is when many people look to making lifestyle changes. As a wellness coach I have walked the path and am grateful that at one point in my life I was burdened by weight.

For me, it wasn’t just the physical weight I was carrying that I wanted to shed. There was so much inner work that I did and as a result my radiant self emerged.

The first picture was taken six months after my first son was born—I was terrified and overwhelmed. A young 20 year old mom with a kid and a mortgage was a little daunting. I dove into motherhood and completely forgot about myself. I soon had two more kids and a bigger mortgage. It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I began to see myself as important and in need of self-care.

I started with walking daily (which I continue to this day) and I started making choices around food. I also started to really do the inner work that was required. I often say “I woke up”. And in that awakening, I truly began to emerge from the outer shell that I had placed around me.

As I began to shine my life began to change dramatically. There is a vibrancy to my essence that was not able to be felt when I was burdened by the heaviness physically and emotionally.

I’d love to walk along side you in your emerging and be there to guide you when it gets hard. My services include more than just yoga. I also offer wellness coaching and a holistic approach to health. It is never just about the weight and I would love to partner with you to reveal the inner parts of yourself that can be found with a solid plan.

Let’s do this!

Wellness Wednesday

Wellness Wednesday!

Mindful movement is a huge part of my life and I continue to work on it. Sometimes my mind wanders to work tasks or my long to-do list, but I really try to stay in the moment. I find I can call my spirit back to the present simply by taking a breath and noticing my surroundings.

I try to walk outside at least two times a day—in the winter it is a bit harder because of icy trails but I have found several routes in my day that I can take that are beautiful! I try to leave my phone in my pocket and really take in the scenery and enjoy the pause button I can choose to take.

Mindful movement is walking your way to a better state of mind. What is your practice of mindful movement?

Natural Cleaning

Over the last few years I have transitioned out of chemicals and into natural cleaning. Gosh, I wish I had known all this when I was raising kids.?

Think about this—our grandparents cleaned with natural things like vinegar, baking soda, lemons, washing soap, etc…and then companies came along and mass produced synthetic and chemical filled “cleaners”.

All those products with repeated exposure can cause serious health risks. The constant cycle of illness and hormonal imbalance may be a result of exposure to these chemicals. (I am happy to share my research if you’d like it)

Our skin is our largest organ, and our lungs are the filters for our oxygen that goes into our blood and our brain, and we are touching and breathing that stuff in? ??????

I now choose to clean naturally.

?amazing all purpose cleaner for counter tops, sinks etc.

? I make a sink/tub scrub

? floor cleaner

? shower door spray

?laundry soap

? wood polish

?fabric softener

?window cleaner

?sanitizing wipes

?carpet freshener

If you are done exposing you and your famly to chemicals and want to learn more, send me an email. l am happy to share my experiences and recipes.

Happy cleaning!

Third Chakra

This morning I sat to plan my week and get centered heading into it. Sunday mornings are my usual time to get grounded and make plans and review my goals.

I also often pull angel cards and sometimes tarot cards. I giggled when the one card I pulled out of 65 to guide my present situation was the solar plexus chakra! I giggled because this is the chakra we are diving into this week in my home studio.

The third chakra—solar plexus—is a powerful one. Located in the area of the solar plexus, navel, and the digestive system, the fiery third chakra is called Manipura, the “lustrous gem.” Associated with the color yellow, this chakra is involved in self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation; it also governs digestion and metabolism. A healthy, spirited third chakra supports us in overcoming inertia, jump-starting our “get-up-and-go” attitude so that we can take risks, assert our will, and assume responsibility for our life. This chakra is also the place of our deep belly laughter, warmth, ease, and the vitality we receive from performing selfless service.

Some signs that the Solar Plexus Chakra is out of balance are:

?Difficulty concentrating

?Poor ability to make decisions or judge a situation accurately

?A feeling that you are more important than other people

?Trouble taking action or getting things done

To bring balance to the third chakra, a yoga practice focusing on strengthening the abdominal muscles, warrior postures and the breath of fire are helpful. Essentials oils that are spicy and supportive of the digestive system are helpful (ginger, coriander, clove and cinnamon) along with gemstones like citrine or topaz.

It’s going to be an awesome week! I feel the power and excitement of the third chakra driving me this week in my personal power and choice!

Vibrant Self

See this face? This is my 47 year old face who is so incredibly grateful to coming back into my Self.

I have lived fifteen years (or more) with an autoimmune disease. I also had multiple joint surgeries in my thirties and recently had three major hip tissue reconstruction surgeries. I am FINALLY my vibrant self again. I am back to doing things I love, like hiking. (You can follow me on Instagram to see my adventures)

The toll of chronic pain has been grueling for my mind, body and spirit. Over the years I lost people, relationships and even myself for awhile dealing with the pain and it’s effects on my life. I also had some steady friends and loved ones who never wavered at loving and showing up for me. In addition to more patience and acts of surrender than I could have ever imagined needing, I turned to my beloved essential oils to help me. For many years I just used oils because they smelled good. As I started doing my own research and playing with combos, I found the perfect blend for my body. The result—this vibrant gal is BACK and loving her pain free life.

Curious what my powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant combo is?

?tumeric

?pink pepper

?copaiba

?yarrow

?DDR prime

I choose to only use doTERRA essential oils. Using less pure or store bought may not have the same benefits and are not recommended for internal use.

These oils are available in a special kit that is a huge bundled savings. You also get some amazing other products in the kit too! And a free car diffuser and three citrus oils.

If you’re ready to bring back your vibrant self too, message me and I will hook you up with the same oils that are helping me and access to my great community.

Essential Oils Internally

Are you unsure about taking oils internally? I was, too in the beginning.

When you start using essential oils, it’s so important to educate yourself and ask questions! There are lots of great resources out there and I can recommend some of my favorite books and other resources if you need some help.

Here is my best tip for internal use—read the labels!

Even though some store bought oils ? say 100% pure, they also say on the bottle “not for internal use”.

When you first start using oils internally ALWAYS check the bottle for the supplements fact label. If it does not have it, then it is not safe for internally use. Easy peasy. In time you will know which ones are and aren’t, but I still double check if it’s one I am not familiar with.

Oh, and D?TERRA oils are different—they actually ARE pure. (You can look at the testing of each bottle by entering in the code on the bottom of your bottle to www.sourcetoyou.com).

May I

May I find within my shadow what needs to be shed and allow it to shed.

May I have the grace to loosen my grip on the aspects of my daily life that impede my peace.

May I find the forgiveness for others that I wish upon for myself.

May I let go of what is holding me back and keeping me from what I am worth.

May I be the light that I am and not hide in the dark corners of life.

May I release the old to make room for the new.

May I find the clarity to embrace what is and let go of what was.

May I surrender, and in doing that, be free.

May I be beautiful in the process of letting go.

Calling

About 15 years ago, I began to listen to my intuition and to what my soul was calling me to do. I knew I was here to do great things, as we all are.

It is my belief that we are all here to serve and make a difference in some capacity. Sometimes we get caught up in the thinking that it has to be something grand or famous, but the truth is even the simplest of lives can be the most impactful.  It isn’t about being seen, but rather meek in your actions to create a world that is more peaceful and more full of compassion and unity.

When I began to get the nudges to look deep inside, I did so without an intention of a return. So often our culture teaches that you give to get. I was certain I was not going to fall into that. Instead, I listen to my gut and lived in a way that served my highest food with zero attachments to an outcome.

Eventually, I was able to leave my day job (and a dysfunctional relationship) and now I do what I am called to do, and that is share yoga and wellness with people who are living with a disability. I specialize in brain injuries and seniors but I enjoy all types of people and my client base includes a spectrum of abilities and interests.

My services include adaptive yoga, wellness coaching, essential oil education and level 1 healing touch.  Each day I head off to work I realize that this isn’t work, it is soul.

Have you found your calling? If  you are still seeking, stop thinking so much and instead try a few of these ideas:

  • Ask yourself this–“I am best when I am ________”. Be truthful.
  • Journal about the things that bring you joy. They may be subtle like children laughing, making sure neighbors are taken care of, cooking, nature, laughter, etc.
  • What are you passionate about and where do you speak up? Sometimes those “triggers” lead you toward something.
  • Start to identify your everyday actions and interests that could lead you to a life of meaning. Cooking, sharing success with others, natural living, yoga, teaching others a skill, and more.
  • Practice gratitude.  Just you being you is a worthy adventure. Celebrate who you are by identifying things about yourself you are grateful for.
  • Stop comparing yourself. Your life journey is yours and yours alone. Remember that when we fall face down, that is often when we come up even stronger. Wipe off your dust and keep at it.
