Crystal Grid for Love

I love spending time every month setting an intention and creating a crystal grid to reflect that intention. I have my grid in a center location in my home so that each time I walk by it I see not only its beauty but I am reminded of the intention.

This particular grid is for bringing the emotion of love into the space and everyone who lives in the space. This can be self-love, love for others, and everything in between. Unconditional love is such a beautiful feeling to experience and the stones chosen in the grid are perfect for that!

Crystal Grid for Love

Rose Quartz is the center stone in my grid and it is the stone of universal love. It restores trust and harmony in relationships, encouraging unconditional love. Rose Quartz purifies and opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, friendship, deep inner healing and feelings of peace.

The next stone is Amethyst. Amethyst is one of the most famous and prominent crystals because of its beautiful purple coloration as well as its spiritual and literal meaning. The spiritual meaning of Amethyst is groundedness, tranquility, and calm. The literal meaning of Amethyst is “not intoxicated” – its name translates from the Greek word améthystos. To be tranquil and calm is a great way to invite in love. Amethyst is used often in dealing with addictions…and that can be of any type. I like to use amethyst when working with love because it helps to ward of the patterns that we can slip into that do not promote self love.

The next layer out is alternating green aventurine and clear quartz. Green aventurine  comforts, harmonizes, protects the heart, and can help attract love in life. It is one of the premier stones to attract luck, abundance and success and lots of LOVE. The meaning is also linked with the heart plexus chakra, which makes it a powerful gem for calming negative emotions that often gets stuck in the heart center.

The Clear Quartz crystal meaning is known for its high vibrations. By clearing your mind, body, and spirit of any clutter, clear quartz can help you align with your highest self and live at your highest potential.  Clear Quartz is known as the “master healer” and will amplify energy and thought, as well as the effect of other crystals.  It absorbs, stores, releases and regulates energy.  Clear Quartz draws off negative energy of all kinds and is perfect for promoting love.

The final layer is alternating more rose quartz and clear quartz points aiming outward..

This brings all the goodness and energy of each of the other stones and energetically sends it outward.

Third Eye Chakra

YOUR VISION WILL BECOME CLEAR ONLY WHEN YOU CAN LOOK INTO YOUR OWN HEART. WHO LOOKS OUTSIDE, DREAMS; WHO LOOKS INSIDE, AWAKES. ~ CARL JUNG

The Third Eye Chakra is located in the brain, at the brow, above the base of the nose. The gift of this chakra is seeing – both inner and outer worlds. The energy of this chakra allows us to experience clear thought as well as gifts of spiritual contemplation and self reflection. Through the gift of seeing we can internalize the outer world and with symbolic language we can externalize the inner world. The energy of this chakra allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depths of our being. It allows us to cut through illusion and to access deeper truths – to see beyond the mind, beyond the words. The “way of the third eye” is seeing everything as it is from a point of “witness” or “observer”, or from simply being mindful – moment by moment.

Third Eye Chakra

LOCATION: center of the forehead

REPRESENTS: self reflection and knowing

ASSOCIATED ANATOMY: pituitary gland, left brain hemisphere, left eye, nose, ears, sinuses, conscious mind

BODILY FUNCTIONS: endocrine system, neurological system, small muscle control

PHYSICAL ELEMENT: light

COLOR: indigo

AFFIRMATION: I see

Understanding the subtle changes in our physical body and emotions can lead us to understand more about who we are.

By paying close attention we can find out throughout self discovery what we need to feel more balanced and harmonious.

Balanced: A balanced Sixth Chakra is having a spiritual awareness of movement and change, knowing that there is an appropriate time for endings as well as beginnings. It is having the ability to release old thought patterns and embrace the new. When you balance the third eye chakra, you experience clarity of thought and vision, you are imaginative, intuitive, and see the events in your life as symbolic and lessons to be learned. You will remember your dreams and contemplate their meanings. You are flexible in your opinions.

Excessive: When the third eye is excessively abuzz with energy, we experience headaches, hallucinations, nightmares, and difficulty concentrating. A person with excessive sixth chakra may lack concentration with the mind flitting here and there. There can be obsessiveness, nightmares, spending far too much time in self-evaluation with no results. Often times they can be narrow focused with a lack of mental flexibility. A person may be often religious but self-righteously so to the point of becoming tyrannical. They tend to be over analytical but missing main factors.

Deficient: When this chakra is underactive, there is no imagination or visualization skill. A person may have difficulty changing their minds—they only see one side of a story which is their way. Generally, they cannot see the outcomes or ramifications of their actions. They don’t learn from their mistakes and are doomed to keep repeating them. People with underactive third eye chakras are undisciplined, weak-willed, and afraid of success, they are unable to set goals, or when set, their goals are very low. Visioning and dreaming is a challenge. When this chakra is deficient, we have a poor memory, experience eye problems, have difficulty recognizing patterns, and can’t visualize well.

YOGA FOR THE THIRD EYE CHAKRA

This practice will open and build awareness in your third eye chakra and you may begin to see everything in your life more clearly. The third eye chakra is associated with vision, reality, inspiration, intuition, perception of subtle dimensions and movements of energy, access to mystical states, illumination, connection to wisdom, insight.

Candle Gazing: A candle gazing meditation helps bring energy to the third eye, increases concentration, and improves memory. By channeling our thoughts and focusing our mind, we can regain wasted energy and move towards peace. Through consistent open-eye meditation, you can increase your memory and find an increased state of awareness, which will hone your attention and focus. When your gaze is focused on the flame of a candle, you see nothing else. This allows your mind to fully focus on the candle as everything else in the room fades away from your awareness. At the same time, any invasive thoughts or distractions will also fade away.

Nadi Shodhana Pranayama:“Nadi” is a Sanskrit word meaning “subtle energy channel” and “shuddhi” means cleansing or purifying. So in yogic speak, this practice cleanses the subtle energy channels so that our prana (life force energy or breath) can flow freely through the body. Inhaling through the left nostril triggers the rest/relaxation response (parasympathetic nervous system) and inhaling through the right stimulates the fight/flight response (sympathetic nervous system). Alternate nostril breathing is about bringing these two opposites into balance. The benefits include: calms and centers the mind, brings the mind to the present moment, increases respiratory health, stress relieving, relaxing for the body and mind, helps purify and balance the the subtle energy channels, thereby ensuring smooth flow of prana (life force) through the body, helps harmonize the left and right hemispheres of the brain, which correlate to the logical and emotional sides of our personality, help to maintain body temperature

Child’s Pose: Child’s Pose is a true resting pose. A pause for the mind, and the body. Placing your forehead, specifically your ‘third eye’ down on the mat (or on stacked fists) has an instant calming and soothing effect on the brain. The inward fold of the body, with the eyes looking back towards you sends a signal to your brain that you’re safe.  This posture creates a light pressure which stimulates the third eye chakra. As you stretch leaning forward and breathe in and out, the practice brings your mental and physical state to a relaxed and stress-free position.

Downward Dog: This standing, forward bend calms the mind (and sixth chakra), stretches the calves, arms, and spine and energizes the rest of the body. This posture helps us to experience ease of physical balance as well as mental balance. Calms the brain and helps relieve stress and mild depression while also energizing the body. This simple and yet complex posture can also decrease tension and headaches, decrease anxiety and provide whole body circulation.

Forward Fold: When we fold, we lower out head below our heart which helps the tapping of the third eye, and awakens the energy stored in the chakra and cleanses it. The pose further accentuates the feeling of relaxation, works deeply on the hamstring and works on the spine as well. The flow of blood is directed towards third eye chakra in this pose.

Wide-Legged Forward Fold: Another inverted posture that brings your head below your heart and provides a powerful shift for your perception. This pose has benefits on the brain as it helps relaxation, and in some cases the alleviation of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress as well as insomnia, fatigue and headache.

Head-to-Knee Pose: This seated pose brings with it a sense of grounding while also developing flexibility in the back, hamstrings, and hips. Sitting tall with a long spine and legs outstretched in front of you, bend your right knee and place the sole of the right foot against the inner left thigh.

YOGA FOR THE HEART CHAKRA

When we feel stuck, we often isolate ourselves or seek to escape. Unfortunately this creates a cycle of feeling alone and disconnected. A balanced solar plexus chakra can bring with it sense of positivity and connection to own’s personal power. Balance your solar plexus chakra with the following yoga postures.

Cat/Cow: We create emotional balance when we practice cat and cow. While Cat and Cow may look “easy,” it is a powerful pose for the mind. The breath synchronized movement increases coordination, fosters intentional focus, and invigorates the vital life force in the body. It is associated with increased emotional balance and stability of the mind and reducing feelings of stress while creating a sense of calm. Cat/Cow Pose strengthens and improves flexibility of the spine through utilization of the reciprocal relationship between the upper and lower back.

Lunge Pose with Backbend: Lunge strengthens your quads while creating flexibility in your hips and the backbend elevated the energy of the heart. This shape, combined with the squaring of the hips and full plant of the ball joint of the back foot, requires that one have a great perception of where their body is in space. The lunge with a slight backbend is great for opening the heart and developing courage. This pose has you standing really strong: one leg back, one leg forward, hips facing forward, and your chest (and heart lifted.). This powerful stance can help you gain inner strength while also letting you open up your heart to yourself and others.

Bridge Pose: Bridge Pose is a gentler variation of Wheel Pose and it begins to create flexibility and strength in your spine and as a result, the heart is opened. As our heart rises above the head in this posture, we allow the mind to quiet and we can truly begin to lead with our heart. Staying in this posture for 5-10 breath cycles is soothing for overactive emotions (supported with a block or not).

Cobra Pose: Cobra pose strengthens and tones your arms while creating flexibility in your spine. This lifting of the heart is another powerful reminder of the lift that we can achieve by letting our heart guide us. This posture reduces stress and anxiety which allows us to feel more joy and happiness. This pose is one that invigorates the heart while also improving circulation.

Eagle Arms: Creating space between the shoulder blades we allow the heart to also radiate through the back as a symbolic reminder that all experiences bring lessons. We can learn to open ourselves up to the past with a sense of unconditional love for all things. In this pose we are, in a way, constricting the flow of blood through our bodies. This happens when we cross arms and squeeze them together. This is similar to the pressure we experience during a massage. This massaging action is a great way to stimulate and release the flow of fresh, immunity yielding blood throughout the body, thus providing excellent benefits of circulation on many levels.

How To Use Crystals

Crystal energy is powerful but it’s not something the Western world yet truly knows how to define or describe. And yet they have been uses for centuries in many traditions and rituals. We’ve gotten so disconnected from nature and its healing abilities —from crystals to essential oils and herbs.

The beginning of my journey into crystals is a bit of a blur since at the time I was in the middle of what I call my great “wake up” and I was actively seeking a variety of holistic modalities. The first time I ventured into a crystal shop I was with a group of girlfriends following an amazing hike in the mountains. I was curious and unsure when I entered the store, but I remember very clearly feeling this draw to the rich dark orange of carnelian. I purchased a round carnelian stone ring and it remains one of my favorite pieces even after all these years. Carnelian is a beautiful stone perfect for creativity, boosts courage and self confidence, inspires actions and is an excellent stone for circulation, back problems, rheumatism, arthritis, neuralgia and depression. It accelerates healing in bones and ligaments and improves vitamin and mineral absorption and ensures good blood supply to organs and tissues.

Over the years I have collected many many crystals. I’ve also given away a lot of the crystals I’ve collected – to family members, friends and and students. I’ve also lost a few crystals along the way. They are funny like that – when their energy is no longer needed they will carry themselves back to the earth or find their way to someone who needs them. I’ve learned to not be disappointed but instead know that I got what I needed and now someone else will.

Today I keep crystals on my window sill, on the ledge of my bathtub, under my bed, in my pockets, in my wallet and the rest in a beautiful dishes around my home. It is not uncommon to see me grab one or two while I am chatting, journaling, or reading. I have my favorites and from time to time they change. My current favorite though is the large fluorite I hold in my hand while I am doing my early morning reading. It is so balancing.

When I look at my collection I am often able to link a certain crystal to a focus in my life – the pinks when I was needing to find unconditional love and acceptance, reds and browns when I was working on learning to stay grounded and steady, quartz, amethyst and selenite when I developed a deeper understanding of Oneness. I was drawn to green stones when I was learning joy and the connection to unconditional love. Yellows and oranges when I was working with ideas to manifest and remember all the abundance. Blues when I was strengthening my inner wisdom and learning to speak my truth.

For years I didn’t really talk about crystals or how I have come to use them. I just know they worked and I felt their power but I couldn’t describe their power or prove their abilities – and in the West, that unfortunately makes me naive and what I believe in and experience ‘not real’. Thankfully my heart persisted and crystals have become a prominent part of my life and now I love sharing with others.

When we feel stuck, we often isolate ourselves or seek to escape. Unfortunately this creates a cycle of feeling alone and disconnected. A balanced sacral chakra can bring with it sense of creativity and connection to other people. Balance Your Sacral Chakra with the following yoga postures.

Goddess Pose: The sacral chakra’s element is water. Indeed, connecting with water is another way to help heal the sacral. The Goddess pose is a powerful way to revitalize and renew the body, mind, and spirit. Vital energy can freely move down through the pelvis and legs and into the earth for grounding. However, fear, pain, and anxiety can cause this energy to become blocked. Goddess pose opens up the hips and chest so that power, strength, and energy can circulate freely. Goddess pose asks us to get in touch with the divine feminine within ourselves, balancing our strength and power with deep inner wisdom.

Reverse Warrior Pose: By giving the side of your heart an opportunity to shine (as a side bend rather than a back bend), this posture offers all sorts of positive vibes, including a boost of self-esteem and perseverance. Sometimes referred to as the peaceful warrior pose it is used in yoga to remind students to show up with love and intention in day-to-day life. When practicing reverse warrior, ask yourself to consider beliefs in your life from another perspective. Remebering that there are two sides to each coin we can foster relationships with fluidity and understanding.

Wide Legged Forward Bend: This pose offers an excellent opportunity to explore the harmonious and clear-headed quality of having a balanced mind. There is a sense of greediness, attachment to materialistic things, indiscriminate, egotistical and nervous behaviors.

Deficient: When this chakra is under active there is a sense of neglecting the self, poor boundaries, depression, lethargy, chronic disorganization, fear of change, and feeling as though you do not belong. Often there are feelings of anxiety, feeling unloved, weak, uninterested, and/or abandoned.

ESSENTIAL OILS & GEMSTONES FOR THE ROOT CHAKRA

Essential oils and gemstones can be a wonderful addition to balancing you chakras.

Apply the essential oils to the bottoms of the feet and/or roll along the base of the spine.

Aromatically: apply the oils to your palms and cup your nose and take deep, long breaths.

Cedarwood strengthens ones connection with the divine & brings all bodies into balance.

Balance Blend is a blend of trees and roots that strengthen the connection with the lower body and the earth. It grounds the emotional, physical, mental bodies and provides a stable, connected and strong inner spirit.

Anchor Blend offers a a steady, calm, present and courageous outlook by reminding you that uncertainty is a symptom of fear. This blends encourages you to be present and aware while encouraging you to step onto the path with faith and courage.

Vetiver is nourishing, restoring and connecting as it helps to feel centered, grounded, present and fully aware.

Black Tourmaline activates grounding between the first chakra and the center of the earth. Carry this one in your pocket, purse or on your body. Hematite has very strong grounding energy; you can feel that just by holding the stone in your hand. It also has a cooling and calming effect, as well as helps develop concentration and focus.

YOGA FOR THE ROOT CHAKRA

Cultivate a sense of earthiness and stability through postures that stay focused on the lower body and a little slower and more deliberate pace.

Warrior Two: The root chakra is related to our primal instincts. Our ‘fight or flight’ response. Warrior II helps to ground the energy so that we feel strong, stable and ready to face our fears and doubts.

Standing Forward Fold: This standing forward bend can bring a sense of peace and calm to the busy mind. Physically, the sensation of having tight hamstrings can suggest to the brain that the body is prepared to run away.

Garland Pose: As we rest in this pose, we bring ourselves closer to the earth and breathe slowly to quieten the chattering mind. Physically, the pose strengthens the lower back, ankles and calves while opening the hips.

Easy Pose: Sitting on your mat or a cushion if you need to elevate and tilt your pelvis forward a little to keep the spine long, bend your knees and cross your feet at the ankles or shins.

Head to Knee Forward Bend: This seated pose brings with it a sense of grounding while also developing flexibility in the back, hamstrings, and hips. Sitting tall with a long spine and legs outstretched in front of you, bend your right knee and place the sole of the right foot against the inner left thigh.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Located in the area of the solar plexus, navel, and the digestive system, the fiery third chakra is called Manipura, the “lustrous gem.” Associated with the color yellow, this chakra is involved in self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation; it also governs digestion and metabolism. A healthy, spirited third chakra supports us in overcoming inertia, jump-starting our “get-up-and-go” attitude so that we can take risks, assert our will, and assume responsibility for our life. This chakra is also the place of our deep belly laughter, warmth, ease, and the vitality we receive from performing selfless service.

The solar plexus chakra is associated with the fire element because fire provides warmth and comfort, but also can cause fear and terror. This chakra spans a wide emotional area. The color associated with the solar plexus chakra is Yellow. Yellow is the symbol of the mind, intellect, high intelligence and wisdom. It is a positive magnetic vibration that acts as an equalizer for irritable conditions of the nervous system. The solar plexus is the organizing brain of the nervous system and as such, is an important power center that should be kept in a perfect equilibrium.

Some signs that the Solar Plexus Chakra is out of balance are:

  • •Difficulty concentrating
  • •Poor ability to make decisions or judge a situation accurately
  • •A feeling that you are more important than other people
  • •Trouble taking action or getting things done.

Digestive problems, eating disorders, feeling like a victim, or experiencing low self-esteem can all be indications of a deficient third chakra. When you feel disempowered or in need of re-energizing, third chakra poses fan the flames of your inner fire and restore vitality so that you can move from the strength of your core.

Perfectionism, anger, hatred, and too much emphasis on power, status, and recognition reveal an excessive third chakra.

My favorite way to balance my third chakra is with gemstones, essential oils and yoga (Restorative, passive backbends that cool off the belly’s fire act as calming agents for third chakra excess).

Crystals for Anxiety

Maybe it’s been an incredibly busy week, coupled with the unknown of the future and the overload of technology this week, or maybe it was the cortisone shot in my foot that has been ramping me up, but either way I have been dealing with anxiety lately.

For 18 years I have been wearing and using crystals for a variety of reasons and yesterday it struck me that since being home, I haven’t been wearing my usual crystal jewelry or putting them in my pocket. Crazy, right?

I immediately put on my rose quartz necklace and my moonstone pendant. I added a Labradorite bracelet and I had a much better day.

Check out the benefits.

Rose Quartz—opens the heart, promotes self-love, and blocks negativity

Moonstone—balances emotions, reduces anxious feelings, cools the mind

Labradorite—relieves anxiety and brain stress, strengthens the will

If you’d like some encouragement and guidance on using crystals, send me a message. I’d be glad to help…and I have a large stash I’d be happy to share.?

Crystals and Essential Oils

If you haven’t started using gemstones with your essential oils, you’re missing out! Seriously amazing.

When it comes to understanding how these two work so well together it starts with the basic knowledge that it’s all about vibration: everything in the universe vibrates. This vibrational energy surrounds all beings, even those objects generally perceived as inanimate. Through the phenomenon of resonance, the vibration of one object can affect another object without its even touching it. This happens because vibration is an energy that travels through space. So, each individual is affected by the vibrations of people and things around us.

This relationship can be used to our advantage, especially when it comes to our emotions. For example, if energy our levels feel low, in addition to resting and staying well-hydrated, we can select a crystal or an essential oil (or a combination) for a pick-me-up.

“Crystals and essential oils, like yoga and meditation, are tools to help us feel our best,” explains crystal expert Heather Askinosie, co-founder of Energy Muse and author of CRYSTAL365. And in the same way that other healing practices pair well together, crystals and essential oils work together to enhance the energy you seek to create.”

So what do crystals and essential oils have in common? Well, they’re both made from earth’s natural resources and often used for healing purposes — crystals are naturally-occurring minerals found all over the globe, while essential oils are distilled directly from plants, trees, and flowers. Using essential oils for healing is wildly popular, as these potent plant essences are touted for their physical and emotional benefits, and used in various forms for different types of ailments (they can be applied topically, diffused in water, and sometimes even ingested). Additionally, crystals are revered for their purported healing benefits and cultures around the globe have used crystals for healing for thousands of years.

My favorite crystal varies depending on what is currently going on in my life, emotionally and physically. Lately, I have been really drawn to the cooler gems like larimar, turquoise, aquamarine, fluorite, green aventurine and amethyst. For many years I tended to be drawn towards warm and denser gems like carnelian, garnet, jaspers, hematite, tigers eye and citrine. Af ew months ago, my body (and mind) needed some cooler vibes and I switched up my crystals into a few of my daily blends of oils.

I personally love these gemstone rollers that pair fabulously with my high quality essential oils. To learn more about the basics of essential oils and how to order, check out this free guide.
