When I pause and take in the fullness of this season, my heart rests in gratitude. It’s easy to get caught up in life’s challenges, to focus on what feels incomplete or uncertain. Yet, when I slow down and intentionally notice the gifts around me, I feel a sense of peace and clarity that is hard to find anywhere else.
I am grateful for the support that allows me to continue my work and for friendships that remind me I am never alone. I am grateful for the simple abundance that surrounds me every day — in love, in kindness, in connection, and in the beauty of small moments. These small, quiet moments can transform our mindset when life feels heavy. Gratitude is not just a feeling; it is a practice that shapes how we see the world and how we respond to challenges.
Like a sunflower turning toward the light, I am reminded that life offers an abundance of good things when we choose to notice them. When I shift my attention toward gratitude, I create space for joy, resilience, and hope, even in difficult times.
Mindfulness Practice: Daily Gratitude Pause.
Take a few minutes today to try this simple practice:
Find a quiet space and sit comfortably, closing your eyes if you like.
Take three slow, deep breaths, feeling your body soften with each exhale.
Bring to mind three things you are grateful for today. They can be as simple as a cup of tea, a kind word from a friend, or the warmth of the sun.
With each item, pause and notice how it feels in your body — a sense of warmth, lightness, or calm.
End by silently saying to yourself: “I choose to notice. I choose to give thanks. I choose to live in gratitude.”
Affirmations to Carry Through Your Day
I notice the abundance around me, even in small moments.
I am grateful for support, love, and connection in my life.
I allow gratitude to shape my thoughts and my actions.
Gratitude is a powerful tool for mindset transformation.
When we intentionally focus on the blessings in our lives, we train our minds to see possibility rather than lack, growth rather than limitation. Even when circumstances are difficult, gratitude shifts our perspective, giving us strength, patience, and a sense of peace.
Today, I choose to notice. I choose to give thanks. I choose to live in the overflow of gratitude. By making this choice daily, we open our hearts to the beauty that already exists in our lives and invite even more light and connection into our world.

There is a beauty that cannot be seen in a mirror. It doesn’t come from flawless skin, a polished life, or achievements stacked neatly in a row. This beauty is quieter, deeper, and infinitely more radiant.
It is the beauty that lives in the heart.
When we live from the heart, we discover that true beauty is not about how the world perceives us, but about how we choose to show up in the world. It shines in the love we give freely, in the courage we summon when life is heavy, and in the audacity to believe in light even when surrounded by darkness.
Inner beauty is a flame that refuses to go out. It may flicker at times, but it never disappears. It’s the strength that says, “I will love anyway. I will keep going anyway. I will believe in light anyway.”
The world tells us beauty is found in appearance or in accomplishments, but the truth is, beauty radiates from within — from the way we love, the way we forgive, the way we keep choosing hope.
When light runs wild within us, it touches everything we do. It’s in the smile we offer a stranger, the patience we extend to a loved one, the quiet resilience we cultivate when life is hard. This light is what makes us come alive, and it shows up everywhere — not in perfection, but in presence.
May we all dare to live from the heart. May we keep believing, keep shining, and keep letting our light run wild. ?
Mindful Practice: Living From the Heart
1. Sit in Stillness Find a quiet space. Close your eyes and rest your hands over your heart. Take a few deep breaths, feeling the warmth and rhythm of your own heartbeat.
2. Invite the Light Visualize a soft golden light glowing in your heart center. With each breath, imagine it expanding, filling your chest, then flowing outward into every part of your body.
3. Whisper Your Affirmation Repeat silently: “The light within me is strong. My beauty shines through my love, courage, and belief in hope.”
4. Carry It Into Your Day Before stepping into your next task or conversation, pause for a moment to recall that golden light. Let it remind you that your presence itself is radiant, and your inner beauty touches everything.
Affirmation for Today: “No matter the darkness around me, light runs wild within me, and it shows up in everything I do.”

Overcoming Challenges: It’s Not Luck, It’s Perseverance, Mindset, and Optimism
Life has a way of testing us. Sometimes it’s a small, quiet challenge — a day that feels heavier than usual, a moment of doubt, or a conversation that leaves us unsettled. Other times, it’s a seismic shift that shakes the very foundation of our world. In every case, one thing is clear: overcoming challenges isn’t about luck. It’s about something much deeper.
For a long time, I thought resilience came naturally to some people and not to others. I looked at those who seemed to navigate life’s storms with ease and assumed they were just “lucky.” But life has a way of teaching you lessons you can’t ignore. And slowly, I learned the truth: resilience, courage, and success are built — not stumbled upon.
Perseverance: There is power in showing up every single day, even when it hurts, even when you’re tired, even when the path forward is unclear. Perseverance is the quiet muscle that strengthens with every small step. It’s the decision to keep moving, even when the world feels heavy.
Mindset: Our thoughts shape our experience. When challenges arise, the inner dialogue we choose becomes the compass guiding our journey. A mindset rooted in learning rather than defeat, in curiosity rather than fear, transforms obstacles into opportunities. It doesn’t erase difficulty — but it gives us the strength to face it with clarity and grace.
Optimism: Optimism is not naive hope. It’s a deliberate choice to see light in the dark, to believe in possibility even when evidence seems scarce. Optimism fuels perseverance. It softens the blow of setbacks and reminds us that our current circumstances are not our forever story.
Overcoming challenges is a practice.
It’s the gentle repetition of showing up, choosing our thoughts, and holding onto hope even when it feels impossible. It’s a commitment to ourselves that no matter the storm, we will find a way forward.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: challenges are not the gatekeepers of luck — they are mirrors reflecting the strength, resilience, and hope already within us. And when we persevere with the right mindset and optimism, we don’t just survive — we grow, we shine, and we inspire others to do the same.
? Take a deep breath, honor how far you’ve come, and keep stepping forward. You are stronger than you realize. ?
1. Center with Breath: Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take 5 slow, deep breaths, feeling your chest and belly expand and release. With each exhale, imagine letting go of doubt or fear.
2. Affirm Your Strength: Silently repeat: “I am capable. I am resilient. I choose hope.” Feel each word resonate in your body.
3. Reflect & Journal: Write down one challenge you’ve recently faced. Then write one small action you can take today to move forward, and one optimistic thought to carry with you.
4. End with Gratitude: Close your journaling by noting one thing you are grateful for — even if it’s simply your own perseverance.
This practice takes just a few minutes, but doing it daily builds the inner resilience that no external circumstance can shake.

There’s something magical about July — the way everything stretches toward the sun, how the days linger a little longer, and how nature reminds us to both expand and rest. This is the season of ripening — in our gardens, in our meals, and within ourselves.
If June was the invitation, July is the deep breath in.
Life in the Garden
This time of year, my garden becomes both sanctuary and teacher. Each morning, I walk through barefoot, coffee in hand, gently brushing my fingers over the herbs and peeking at what’s ready to harvest. The basil is bold. The tomatoes are starting to blush. And the flowers — oh, the flowers — are singing in color.
There’s something deeply grounding about tending to growing things. The rhythm of watering, weeding, harvesting — it slows the nervous system and brings me right into the moment.
Even if you don’t have a garden, simply noticing the season around you — the smell of cut grass, the hum of bees, the heat rising off the pavement — can bring you into deeper presence.
Eat What the Earth Offers
In July, I lean into simple, fresh meals made from what’s in season. Think cucumber-mint salads, grilled zucchini, homemade pesto, berry crisps with just a hint of honey, and iced teas infused with lemon balm or lavender from the garden.
Here’s one of my current favorites:
Garden-Fresh Summer Bowl
Cherry tomatoes, halved
Sliced cucumber
A scoop of quinoa or brown rice
Feta or avocado
Fresh basil or mint
Olive oil and lemon juice drizzle
Sprinkle of sea salt and cracked pepper
It’s light, refreshing, and packed with the vitality of the season.
Stay Cool, Stay Centered
While July can be expansive, it also brings intensity — in heat, energy, and pace. I’ve been reminding myself (and my yoga students) that staying cool isn’t just about air conditioning — it’s about staying centered.
Try this:
A short cooling breath practice like Sheetali or Sitkari
A few minutes with your feet in cool water
A walk at sunrise or just after sunset
A restorative yoga pose with a lavender-infused eye pillow
Let your daily rhythm soften with the season. Your nervous system will thank you.
Let Yourself Ripen
This season is not about pushing. It’s about becoming. Let yourself bloom slowly. Rest deeply. Savor fully.
Whether you’re in your garden, on your mat, or at your kitchen table, may this month remind you that you, too, are a living thing — worthy of sunlight, nourishment, and ease.
With warmth from the garden and the heart, Stacie Embracing Wisdom & Wellness

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.” ? Roy T. Bennett
It is hard to believe just how fast this year has already flew by and here we are embarking on a new season. Mother Nature has been quite active this spring giving us many days of wind which feels like a lot of opportunities to lean into patience. As I write this I am watching the snow gently fall after enjoying a couple days of sunshine and 70 degrees. Oh, Colorado. She sure keeps us on our toes.
One day we are basking in the sun and the next we are shoveling snow. I recently read a passage in a book about how we interpret, and perhaps even how we have been trained or conditioned to view something that really is neutral. She uses the example of rain (or in Colorado’s case, snow) and how we might habitually complain about the gloom and doom of rain, when instead we could feel happiness that the flowers are being watered and rejoice in the sound and fresh fragrance. Rain is neutral, it is how we choose to view it. Another example is how we have been accustomed to dreading Mondays, when really it is a neutral and naturally occurring event. Rather than say, “ugh, its Monday”, try shifting your thinking to seeing a Monday as a whole new experience that you get to create a week of productivity, learning, joy, and love.
I love when I am called back to the simplicity of choice.
I encourage you to look at your thoughts and when a neutral event occurs (weather, Mondays, traffic), shift your immediate thought that is usually negative into an opportunity to create a beautiful new experience.
Ultimately we get to choose how we react, or respond to the events and experiences around us.
Throughout the last fifteen months, I sure have learned a lot about responding or reacting. Many of you know that I am once again facing hip surgery. This time to remove the implant due to infection and a possible adverse reaction to the metal material used in the implant. In the meantime, I will keep baking, creating and choosing everyday to find joy.
Finally, remember to honor the Mom’s and other lucky ones who have nurtured you. It is so important to acknowledge those who give so much love to others, and have one of the hardest (and most rewarding) job in the world. Also, don’t forget about the grandmothers out there–we are extra special people!
In health and gratitude,

Life has a way of unfolding in unexpected ways. No matter how carefully we plan, how much effort we put in, or how much we wish for a certain outcome, things don’t always go as we hoped. But there’s a beautiful truth in the words of John Wooden:
“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”
This quote is a powerful reminder that our experience of life isn’t just shaped by what happens to us—it’s shaped by how we respond to it. Challenges, setbacks, and disappointments are inevitable, but our perspective and attitude determine whether we feel defeated or find opportunities for growth.
Shifting Perspective
When life takes an unexpected turn, our initial reaction might be frustration or sadness. It’s natural to feel this way, but after the initial emotions settle, we have a choice: we can resist what is or we can embrace it and find a way forward. The people who thrive aren’t necessarily the ones with the easiest path; they’re the ones who adapt, learn, and grow from whatever comes their way.
This doesn’t mean ignoring difficult feelings or pretending everything is perfect. Instead, it’s about acknowledging reality while choosing to focus on solutions, lessons, and possibilities.
Finding Gratitude in the Unexpected
Some of life’s greatest blessings come disguised as disappointments. A missed job opportunity might lead to a better one. A difficult breakup might create space for personal growth and a deeper relationship in the future. Even in the midst of hardship, there are often hidden gifts waiting to be uncovered.
One way to shift our mindset is through gratitude. When we take time to appreciate what we still have, even in challenging moments, we cultivate resilience. Gratitude doesn’t erase difficulties, but it changes how we experience them.
Turning Obstacles into Opportunities
History is full of stories of people who turned setbacks into success simply by shifting their perspective. J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter after experiencing financial hardship and rejection. Oprah Winfrey overcame early career failures to become one of the most influential voices in media. These individuals didn’t let obstacles define them; they used them as stepping stones.
I’ve been reflecting on this a lot lately as I prepare for my seventh hip surgery—my fourth in just the past 12 months. Having my total hip replacement removed is not a journey I ever expected to take, and there have been moments of deep frustration, grief, and uncertainty. But through this experience, I’ve also found incredible lessons in resilience, patience, and self-compassion. While I wouldn’t have chosen this path, I’m choosing to embrace it, finding strength in small victories and gratitude in the support around me.
We can do the same in our own lives. The next time life takes an unexpected turn, ask:
What can I learn from this?
How can I grow through this experience?
Where is the hidden opportunity?
By making the best of how things turn out, we open ourselves up to new paths, deeper wisdom, and a greater sense of peace.
Embracing Life as It Comes
Life isn’t about having everything go according to plan. It’s about navigating the twists and turns with an open heart and a resilient spirit. When we learn to accept, adapt, and find meaning in every experience, we realize that things really do turn out best—because we make the best of them.
What’s a time in your life when things didn’t go as planned but turned out better in the end? Share in the comments—I’d love to hear your story!

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” — Wayne Dyer
Karma is a concept that is often misunderstood. Many people see it as a system of punishment and reward—a cosmic scorecard that doles out justice. However, at its core, karma is not about retribution but rather about cause and effect. It is the natural unfolding of consequences based on our actions, thoughts, and intentions.
As I continue to struggle with my hip recovery, I often get people saying that I don’t deserve this because I do good in the world. Would I be experiencing this if I didn’t do good things? Is what they are referring to karma? I do not think so.
In my mind, karma is not punitive or rewarding.
In many spiritual traditions, including Hinduism and Buddhism, karma is seen as a teacher rather than a judge. When we act with kindness, integrity, and compassion, we tend to experience more peace and fulfillment. When we act with harm, dishonesty, or negativity, we may encounter challenges—not as punishment, but as an opportunity for growth and self-awareness.
A key aspect of karma is that it is not instant, nor is it always obvious. Sometimes the effects of our actions take time to unfold, and they may not always manifest in the ways we expect. This can be frustrating, especially when we feel we are acting with good intentions yet still face difficulties. However, rather than seeing these moments as punishment, we can view them as an invitation to reflect and realign with our highest values.
In our daily lives, karma reminds us to be intentional with our actions. How we treat others, the energy we put into the world, and the mindset we carry all contribute to the experiences we attract. If we want more love, we can offer love. If we want more kindness, we can be kind. This doesn’t mean life will always be fair or predictable, but it does mean we have more power over our experiences than we often realize.
Ultimately, karma is a mirror.
It reflects our choices and allows us to take responsibility for the energy we cultivate in our lives. Instead of fearing karma as a force of punishment, we can embrace it as a guide. A guide that helps us live with greater awareness, intention, and purpose.
As I move forward with my struggles I will continue to do good without any attachment to being rewarded (or punished). In my downtime I am crocheting hats for the needy, making cards for my neighbors, sharing uplifting messages on social media, baking bread for others and generally trying to share goodness from my heart.
Let’s face it, setting an intention is the easy part. Implementing your intention can be the true work. To implement your intention, you are basically saying to the universe you are willing to step into a relationship that requires work. All relationships take work and this spiritual marriage between you and the universe is no different.
My Intention for the Year
I have set out to bring a sense of renewal into my life. It is not that my life is bad, but I do have certain lifestyle choices that I know need to be adjusted. At one point in my life many of those choices worked for me. That is no longer the case.
To implement a sense of renewal, and align with the forces of the universe, I must be willing to have deliberate actions. Publicly proclaiming your intention is a powerful step to begin the process. Plus, it gives me a record for accountability.
Ditch my tracking of steps walked. Yep, that is correct. After twenty five years of logging my steps, I am going to release it. I am not going to look at the amount of steps, but rather look for quality of steps. Are they in nature? Were my daily steps meaningful? Did I enjoy my time walking?
Shift directions a bit. By fostering the things that bring me joy, I am going to make more space for them. That will give me less space for things that cause me stress. I still intend to teach adaptive yoga as my primary “job”, but implanting my own bakery business is next up for cultivating JOY.
Nurture my creative side. I intend to create some magic in my life through publishing affirmation cards, a teaching manual for yoga teachers, and an online course for mindful manifesting. Watch out! It is going to be another new direction I take my business. These options will allow me to renew my physical body by reducing my demanding workload.
Foster my friendships and relationships. Most people know I work a lot. I genuinely love what I do so it never feels like work to me. However, in my desire to do what I love, relationships and friendships have been less of a priority the last 10 years. I want to renew some old friendships and create new ones.
Tips for Implementing Your intention
To implement your action plan for your intention you must do a few things that will bring the intention into your daily life. I find these simple things bring great power to your world:
Write it down. Put the word of your intention everywhere you might see it. Your mirror, car, planner, desk, and screen saver on phone. Anywhere your eyes will be, the word needs to be there.
Tell people your intention. You have to talk about it to anyone in your life. I have been known to even tell my dentist and barista my intention! When you speak it, you become it.
Choose daily. Everyday you must be willing to think, speak and act in alignment with your intention. Not everyday will be a success, but at least you can know that you are on your way!
Affirm your intention. Every day spend 3-5 minutes speaking your intention into an I AM affirmation. For example, “I am renewing”.
Not sure what your intention is? This video will walk you through the process of finding your intention! This step by step tutorial will help you find the direction your spirit is wanting you to take this year!
One thing that I have learned for sure over the last eight months, being strong certainly has its advantages.
Thankfully, strength has carried me most of my adult life and continues to do so. The advantages of being strong is the ability to face challenges with the upmost of grace and yet, fierce determination. I rarely get rattled and usually let triggers roll right off my back because I honestly don’t have time for it. The ability to have solid boundaries in place is one of the gifts strength allows you.
One of the disadvantages of being strong is that people assume that it’s easy, it must not be *that* bad, or that you’re always okay.
None of that is true.
Another disadvantage is that people will often challenge your strength by telling you that despite being strong, you most certainly need the help of others. Which I mostly disagree with. I need help when I need help, not based on someone else’s opinion of when THEY think I need help.
Truth is I am strong. Rarely to my own detriment, but instead most often to my benefit.
In the coming weeks I will be asked to be strong again as I face more challenges with my hip. When the plan is in place, I will share it.
When you hear the word alignment, what comes to mind? The dictionary defines alignment as arrangement in a straight line, or in correct or appropriate relative positions or a position of agreement or alliance. This can mean a multitude of things as it relates to decisions we make, how we conduct ourselves, and even how we literally move our bodies in space.
To be “out of alignment” can be simply understood as an arrangement in which two or more things are not positioned correctly in a straight line or parallel to each other. In Yoga we hear a lot about the body being in alignment, but can that statement also relate to how you show up in the world?
Living Alignment
Remember last month I asked you to determine what makes up the roots or foundation that sustains you when life gets hard? Now it is time to put the proof in the pudding and see if your words, thoughts, and actions are in alignment with that.
Let’s say that integrity is a value you hold as something that keeps you steady. Then your actions dictate otherwise; you mislead people, you are a doormat for others to mislead you, you often fudge or hide the truth, or possibly you make decisions that are anything but ones packed with integrity. Simply thinking, if you say being healthy is important to you and you consume crappy food and toxic media, it is probable you are out of alignment with what you say you find important.
Alignment in Yoga
If you have been paying attention for long you may notice that I am big believer in living yoga and not just practicing yoga. I believe that far more of the yoga principles are implemented off the mat (or chair) and teach this all the time. The shape our bodies create while practicing is just a small part of it.
In Yoga, the principle of Alignment is closely related to principles like: balance, symmetry, precision and harmony – all are fundamental principles in yoga practice. Iyengar Yoga is the practice of precision. Poses are held for long periods and often modified with props. This method is designed to systematically cultivate strength, flexibility, stability, and awareness, and can be therapeutic for specific conditions. B.K.S. Iyengar, an Indian teacher and guru, founded Iyengar Yoga. Iyengar says:
Alignment is to bring balance between the flow of energy and intelligence to connect the body to the mind.” And then, he says “We adjust not the body, but the awareness. The moment the awareness is brought to function, then the body finds its right alignment and adjusts; as water finds its level, the awareness, too, finds its level.”
Having Awareness
Practicing yoga on the mat (or in chair) is a sure way to bring awareness to the language your body speaks. It invites you to pay close attention the nuances of the shape your body is in. It encourages you to listen and make adjustments along the way.
Imagine having this type of awareness in the thoughts you have? Or the words that you speak? How about the actions (or lack of) that you do everyday?
Putting the principles of alignment into your daily life following the “practice” will integrate the principles of this beautiful lifestyle into your life.
Join me on Youtube this month as I walk you through a weekly practice of alignment. There I will suggest ways to align yourself with what you said keeps you steady.
The Greatest Gift of Alignment
We have all had that magical feeling when everything in our life is flowing well. Our relationships are easy and fulfilling and we feel balanced. Or, when it seems that everything we attempt becomes a success. When life feels “easy” and we are rarely agitated by everyday things, it is likely we are in alignment. You might say it is as if you are in the beautiful flow of life where a gentle reciprocity exists in all areas.
CHANGE IS ONE OF OUR GREATEST TEACHERS. IT ASKS US EVERYDAY TO PROVE OUR COMMITMENT TO OURSELVES. IT LEADS US INTO THE DARK PLACES AND ALLOWS US TO FILL THEM WITH LIGHT.IT SHOWS US THINGS ABOUT OURSELVES THAT WE NEVER KNEW. AND BEFORE WE KNOW IT, IT SHOWS US HOW POWERFUL AND STRONG WE ARE.
AUTUMN GOODNESS
Dear Friends,
My favorite season is here! I was remarking the other day the reason I love fall is the constant changes that I see outside. I think I love the movement and transformation that fall brings. Most of you know I don’t sit still well so this ever changing season is perfect for my personality.
Often this time of year we hear about the concept of embracing the change and ‘letting go’. One of my greatest teachers ever once told me that not all change can be embraced and that sometimes change is very hard and not easily welcomed. So true, right?
Though we may not always fully embrace changes, we might be able to lean into the process and see just how strong we really are. We can come to know that as we move through what is showing up in our lives, we are often making space for something else.
The season for me is coming to a change as I feel and listen to the pull to welcome in something different. In fact, I have been feeling this nudge for a variety of reasons in the last few months. Part of it is the push to complete some big projects that I have been working on and the other part of me is listening to the interior landscape of my soul asking me to align my actions with its deepest truth. Add to that some reminders that the Universe is always putting in my path exactly what I need in order to pause, look and learn. And maybe even slow down a bit to refuel. I am hoping with a bit lighter load in my heart, I will find the space to shine even more. Isn’t that what we are here to do anyway?
I realize that there will be some disappointment, much like many of us feel as we watch summer come to and end and we pull out the snow shovels and warm sweaters for the coming months of cold. I ask you though to feel the disappointment, and then consider the curiosity that a new season can bring you. Sometimes the change is just what we need.
For the rest of the month, I encourage you to take in the glory of the changing leaves. Breathe in the fall air. Let go of something weighing on your heart. Shed an old belief. Release what doesn’t elevate you. And most importantly, know that all is well.
Much love,
Stacie

Pumpkins are a staple of fall. We go to the pumpkin patch and scour of the field full of pumpkins, searching for the perfect one. We use them to make pies, cakes, breads, pasta, and virtually any food imaginable. We carve them, put a candle inside, and set them on our doorsteps. We spend a season obsessed with pumpkins, and then they’re gone on to something.
However, as the cold winds begin to blow, we know we must hold on tight to our branches until it’s our time to fall. It’s interesting because none of us want to drop. We just want to stay in our spot, high above the ground and admire the magnificent atmosphere fall brings.
1.Your size and shape don’t matter. You are magnificent just as you are. Embrace all of you!
2.Sometimes we need to remove the yuck from inside. Doing the inner work is so rewarding. Take time to get rid of the negative.
3. People may only like you for a season. We all know that people are seasonal sometimes. Enjoy the people while you have them, but also know that some may not stay.
4.You can be anything you want to be. Believing in yourself is the first step at creating the life you want and deserve. Go for it!
5.You may look great on the outside, but it is what is on the inside that makes you shine. That light inside of you is what people are attracted to and admire..just keep shining.

Self-reflection is a humbling process. It’s essential to find out why you think, say, and do certain things…. then better yourself.
How much time do you spend self reflecting? Do you ever hit the pause button and reflect on your decisions for the year and if they are aligned with your goals or visions for your life?
We are headed into the final quarter of the year and it is a good time to reflect on your beginning of the year visions and see how they have evolved and what you can do in the final stretch to reach them.
Equanimity
I set out the year with a quest to live with equanimity. To be steady and unwavering no matter what shows up. I should have known to be careful what I wish for. What a year it has been. I had two major hip surgeries and an infection in the hip. Add in some horrific reactions to the medications to treat the infection AND blood clots in my arm that resulted in permanent damage to the veins.
Despite it all, with the exception of a few days where I struggled to see beyond the pain, I feel that I did a great job maintaining equanimity as it is defined: evenness of mind especially under stress… a calm mental state and without hurried movement…right disposition or balance.
Self Reflection
Reflecting on the year is a great way to see the actual tools and actions that were put into place to lean towards your goal. Where did you grow and what is left to do?
I dug into some new things and discovered quite a bit about myself.
How did I remain steady and unwavering given all that this year asked me to face?
Learning a new skill can be a great way to redirect your mind away from what ails you to a new place of curiosity and challenge. I took on learning how to bake sourdough bread, canning jams and jellies and more.
Getting creative is a great way to bring happiness to your life if you are struggling. I opted to use a fun digital planner to help me create a system of graphics and ideas for my YouTube channel. I also found joy in creating homemade body butters, lotions and serums.
Participating in education and classes uses a part of your brain that can ignite interests in other areas. I explored a variety of free online courses to keep my brain working and sharp while my body healed.
Being outside does wonders for our mental health. Whether it is caring for a simple garden, sitting under a tree or basking in some sunshine, it all helps.
Gratitude is proven to be a tool that can truly change your life. When you practice gratitude, you shift your thoughts away from negative emotions and uncomfortable sensations. A daily heartfelt gratitude practice is a must.
What will you do in these final few months of 2024 to come closer to your vision?
