Cortisol Reset: 5 Yoga-Inspired Poses to Help You Feel Calm and Grounded
Have you ever felt tired but wired at the end of the day—like your body is begging for rest, but your mind just won’t turn off?
That’s often a sign of high cortisol levels—your body’s primary stress hormone—still running the show, even when the day is done. Whether you’re managing chronic stress, burnout, fibromyalgia, or post-surgical healing (like me), that overstimulated nervous system can leave you feeling restless, achy, and emotionally depleted.
Over the years, I’ve found that weaving a simple, mindful yoga practice into my evening routine can help bring the body into a state of rest and safety. This gentle sequence of five poses is my personal cortisol reset—designed to calm the nerves, ground the energy, and support the body’s natural transition into rest and recovery.
1. Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani) This restorative inversion helps drain tired legs, calms the mind, and invites your body into its parasympathetic “rest and digest” state.
Try it for 5–10 minutes with a folded blanket under your hips and soft lighting in the room.
2. Supported Child’s Pose (Balasana) This gentle forward fold cradles the nervous system. When supported with pillows or a bolster, it helps you feel held and grounded.
Let your arms relax and forehead rest on something soft to activate the calming pressure points.
3. Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana) A slow, inward fold that quiets the thoughts and releases tension in the spine and hamstrings.
Don’t worry about reaching your toes—just soften and breathe.
4. Reclined Bound Angle Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana) A beautiful heart-opener that helps ease anxiety and promote stillness. Use pillows under the knees for full support.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly to connect inward.
5. Supine Twist (Supta Matsyendrasana) This twist helps release the spine, massage the organs, and encourage a natural detox of the stress hormones.
Let your breath be long and slow here, feeling into the release.
Bonus Tip: Add Essential Oils for Even Deeper Calm
Pair this practice with a calming essential oil blend for extra support. I like to use a blend of tulsi, cedarwood, clary sage, and chamomile—applied over the adrenals (lower back), heart, and wrists. Aromatherapy sends another signal to your body: “You are safe. You can rest now.”
Your Cortisol Reset Ritual
Set the tone with soft lighting, a cozy blanket, maybe a cup of herbal tea or magnesium. Take your time with each pose, focusing on slow, nourishing breaths. Even just 15–20 minutes can shift your nervous system in powerful ways.
Your body wants to heal—it just needs space and signals of safety. This practice can be your invitation to slow down and reconnect with that healing rhythm.
Let me know if you try this sequence—or share your favorite evening wind-down ritual in the comments. We’re in this together.

Reflexology & Essential Oils: A Gentle Partnership for Holistic Healing
There’s a quiet wisdom in our hands and feet—tiny pressure points that mirror every part of our body. Reflexology, the practice of applying gentle pressure to these zones, offers a pathway to balance, relaxation, and natural healing. When paired with the aromatic support of essential oils, the experience becomes a rich, sensory ritual that soothes both body and mind.
What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is based on the idea that each area of your foot (or hand) corresponds to an organ, gland, or system in the body. By using specific thumb, finger, or massage tool techniques, a reflexologist can:
Promote Circulation: Encouraging blood flow to tired muscles and organs.
Balance Energy: Helping clear blockages in what traditional Chinese medicine calls “qi” or life force.
Support Relaxation: Activating the nervous system’s parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) response.
Encourage Detoxification: Stimulating lymphatic drainage and kidney function.
Many people report feeling deeply relaxed after a reflexology session, often remarking that it feels like a full-body release even though the technique is focused on the feet (or hands).
Why Add Essential Oils?
Essential oils amplify the benefits of reflexology in a few beautiful ways:
Enhanced Relaxation: Oils like lavender or Roman chamomile help quiet the mind and deepen the sense of calm that reflexology invites.
Targeted Support: Specific oils can be chosen to support certain areas—peppermint for headache relief, ginger for digestion, or eucalyptus for respiratory comfort.
Nervous System Balance: Oils such as frankincense or vetiver ground and stabilize, helping the nervous system transition more fully into rest and repair.
Ritual & Intention: Aroma activates our limbic system (the part of the brain tied to emotion), making every touch point feel intentional and sacred.
By combining touch with scent, you’re engaging multiple pathways of healing: physical, energetic, and emotional.
How to Practice Reflexology at Home with Essential Oils
You don’t need fancy tools or a professional massage table to enjoy a simple reflexology session. Here’s a gentle at-home ritual:
Set the Space
Find a quiet corner, dim the lights, and play soft music or nature sounds.
Diffuse an essential oil blend that promotes relaxation—try lavender + bergamot or a premade “Calm” blend.
Prepare Your Feet
Soak your feet in warm (not hot) water for 5–10 minutes. Add a few drops of lavender or chamomile oil to the water.
Pat dry with a soft towel and sit comfortably in a supportive chair.
Choose Your Oils
For general relaxation: Lavender (nerve-soothing) + Roman Chamomile (calming inflammation).
For digestive support: Peppermint (stimulates digestion) + Ginger (warming, anti-nausea).
For stress relief: Frankincense (grounding) + Ylang Ylang (balances mood).
Mix 2–3 drops of your chosen oil(s) with a tablespoon of carrier oil (like fractionated coconut or sweet almond).
Start with Gentle Strokes
Warm the blend in your hands. Begin by gently stroking the entire top and bottom of each foot—this invites circulation and a moment to notice any areas of tension.
Work the Reflex Points
Use your thumb to apply gentle pressure in small circles to these key zones on the sole of the foot:
Ball of the Foot (Chest/Heart Zone): Beneath the toes, along the pad.
Arch (Digestive/Abdominal Zone): The middle curve of the sole.
Heel (Pelvis/Lower Back Zone): The fleshy part under the heel.
Inner Edge (Spine Zone): Run your thumb along the inner arch.
Spend about 30 seconds to 1 minute on each point, adjusting pressure to what feels supportive (never painful).
Soften and Soothe
Finish with soft, sweeping strokes across the entire foot. Take a few moments to simply rest and breathe, allowing the oils and touch to integrate.
The Holistic Benefits You’ll Feel
Deep Relaxation: The combination of intentional touch and calming scent helps your nervous system shift into rest mode.
Mind-Body Connection: By focusing on your feet, you naturally turn inward, nurturing presence and awareness.
Improved Circulation: Stimulating reflex points encourages blood flow, which can ease muscle tension throughout the body.
Emotional Release: Essential oils can gently unlock stored emotions—pair that with reflexology’s balancing touch, and you may find a surprising sense of calm.
Even if you only practice once a week, you’ll likely notice incremental shifts: calmer evenings, a lighter mood, and more ease in your body.
A Gentle Invitation
If you’ve never tried reflexology before, start small. Spend just five minutes on each foot, using a favorite essential oil blend. Notice how your mind and body respond. Over time, this ritual can become an anchor—an act of self-care that grounds you back into your own body, your own breath, your own peace.
Have you tried combining reflexology and essential oils before? I’d love to hear what oils you reach for and how your body responds. Share your thoughts below or tag me in your reflexology moments!
Until next time, may you walk softly, breathe deeply, and find calm in every step.

Lately, my evenings have felt especially hard—my body gets tense, my muscles ache, and my nerves feel like they’re buzzing under my skin. Even when I’m exhausted, I struggle to settle. If you know that tired-but-wired feeling… you are not alone. ?
For me, it often comes down to adrenal fatigue and high cortisol at night—a common challenge for anyone managing chronic stress or fibromyalgia. When the adrenals are constantly “on,” it’s hard for the nervous system to power down.
One thing that’s helped me so much is creating a consistent, gentle evening routine—especially using this calming essential oil blend designed to support the adrenals, ease the nervous system, and reduce those cortisol spikes that keep us restless.
Adrenal-Calming Oil Blend
Add to a 10–15 ml roller bottle with carrier oil (like fractionated coconut):
Bergamot – Uplifting – Gently boosts mood while easing anxiety.
Roman Chamomile – Soothing – Softens irritability and supports sleep.
I apply it to my lower back (over the adrenals), my heart, and wrists—and just breathe. Sometimes I’ll diffuse it too as I wind down for bed.
Pair this with soft lighting, some gentle breathing or stretching, and maybe a cozy tea or magnesium supplement… and you’ve got a ritual that reminds your body it’s safe to rest.
Let me know if you try the blend—or if you’re also riding that high-cortisol wave at night. We’re in this together. I am happy to mail you one to try! Soothing Relief: My Go-To Essential Oil Blend for Aches and Pains
Over the years, I’ve turned to nature to support my body through its many seasons—especially when it comes to managing aches and pains. Whether it’s the result of injury, chronic tension, or simply the wear and tear of daily life, this essential oil blend has become one of my most trusted companions for comfort and relief.
Let me introduce you to my personal Soothing Relief Blend—a 10ml roller bottle filled with powerhouse plant allies that work together to ease discomfort and promote relaxation.
What’s Inside:
Copaiba – Known for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, copaiba is my go-to for calming discomfort deep within the muscles and joints.
Frankincense – A grounding oil that also supports cellular health and reduces inflammation. I find it enhances the effectiveness of every other oil in the blend.
Lemongrass – Bright and uplifting, lemongrass helps reduce muscle tension and supports circulation—great after long days or physical exertion.
Ylang Ylang – While often used for emotional balance, ylang ylang also promotes relaxation in the muscles and helps soften tight, stressed areas.
Marjoram – Often called the “herb of happiness,” marjoram is excellent for soothing sore muscles and calming spasms.
Siberian Fir – This crisp, forest-scented oil is cooling and anti-inflammatory—perfect for reducing pain and promoting deep muscle relaxation.
How to Make It:
In a 10ml roller bottle, add:
3 drops Copaiba
3 drops Frankincense
3 drops Lemongrass
2 drops Ylang Ylang
3 drops Marjoram
3 drops Siberian Fir
Top off the bottle with fractionated coconut oil, snap on the roller top, and give it a gentle shake.
How I Use It:
I roll this blend directly onto areas of tension—like my lower back, shoulders, hips, or knees—especially after a long walk or physical therapy. I also love to apply it before bed to promote more restful sleep when discomfort might otherwise keep me up.
This blend smells divine and feels like a nurturing act of self-care every time I apply it.
Note: As always, be sure to do a patch test first and consult with a healthcare professional if you’re pregnant, nursing, or managing a medical condition.

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.” ? Roy T. Bennett
It is hard to believe just how fast this year has already flew by and here we are embarking on a new season. Mother Nature has been quite active this spring giving us many days of wind which feels like a lot of opportunities to lean into patience. As I write this I am watching the snow gently fall after enjoying a couple days of sunshine and 70 degrees. Oh, Colorado. She sure keeps us on our toes.
One day we are basking in the sun and the next we are shoveling snow. I recently read a passage in a book about how we interpret, and perhaps even how we have been trained or conditioned to view something that really is neutral. She uses the example of rain (or in Colorado’s case, snow) and how we might habitually complain about the gloom and doom of rain, when instead we could feel happiness that the flowers are being watered and rejoice in the sound and fresh fragrance. Rain is neutral, it is how we choose to view it. Another example is how we have been accustomed to dreading Mondays, when really it is a neutral and naturally occurring event. Rather than say, “ugh, its Monday”, try shifting your thinking to seeing a Monday as a whole new experience that you get to create a week of productivity, learning, joy, and love.
I love when I am called back to the simplicity of choice.
I encourage you to look at your thoughts and when a neutral event occurs (weather, Mondays, traffic), shift your immediate thought that is usually negative into an opportunity to create a beautiful new experience.
Ultimately we get to choose how we react, or respond to the events and experiences around us.
Throughout the last fifteen months, I sure have learned a lot about responding or reacting. Many of you know that I am once again facing hip surgery. This time to remove the implant due to infection and a possible adverse reaction to the metal material used in the implant. In the meantime, I will keep baking, creating and choosing everyday to find joy.
Finally, remember to honor the Mom’s and other lucky ones who have nurtured you. It is so important to acknowledge those who give so much love to others, and have one of the hardest (and most rewarding) job in the world. Also, don’t forget about the grandmothers out there–we are extra special people!
In health and gratitude,
Stacie

Balancing Your Energy: An Introduction to Chakras, Crystals, Essential Oils & Yoga
In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel disconnected from ourselves—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. One gentle way to restore harmony is by tuning into the chakra system, the body’s energetic centers. This ancient system reminds us that healing often begins within, and that we are whole, vibrant beings made of energy, breath, and intention.
The chakras are seven main energy centers that run along the spine, each associated with specific emotional and physical states. When energy flows freely, we feel balanced and alive. When blocked, we might notice tension, fatigue, or emotional overwhelm.
Here’s a simple guide to each chakra—and how yoga, essential oils, and crystals can support balance and well-being:
Root Chakra (Muladhara)
Theme: Safety, stability, grounding
Yoga: Child’s pose, mountain pose
Oil: Vetiver, patchouli
Crystal: Red jasper, hematite Try standing barefoot on the earth and breathing deeply to feel grounded.
Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
Theme: Creativity, pleasure, emotional flow
Yoga: Hip circles, goddess pose
Oil: Sweet orange, ylang ylang
Crystal: Carnelian Place a warm compress on your lower belly and breathe into your creative center.
Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
Theme: Confidence, personal power
Yoga: Warrior II, boat pose
Oil: Lemon, ginger
Crystal: Citrine, tiger’s eye Use empowering affirmations like: “I am strong. I am capable.”
Heart Chakra (Anahata)
Theme: Love, compassion, connection
Yoga: Cobra pose, heart openers
Oil: Rose, geranium
Crystal: Rose quartz, green aventurine Place your hand on your heart and take three long breaths of love and kindness.
Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)
Theme: Communication, truth, expression
Yoga: Neck rolls, shoulder stand (modified)
Oil: Peppermint, eucalyptus
Crystal: Blue lace agate, aquamarine Journal your truth or speak an affirmation aloud.
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
Theme: Intuition, insight, inner wisdom
Yoga: Child’s pose, supported forward fold
Oil: Clary sage, frankincense
Crystal: Amethyst, lapis lazuli Meditate with your eyes closed and bring attention to the space between your eyebrows.
Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
Theme: Spiritual connection, oneness
Yoga: Meditation, seated stillness
Oil: Lavender, sandalwood
Crystal: Clear quartz, selenite Practice stillness and visualize a gentle light above your head.
You don’t need to do everything all at once. Start small. Choose one chakra to focus on this week—use a crystal, diffuse an oil, or add a mindful movement. Energy healing is a journey, and the more we tend to our energy body, the more vibrant and aligned we feel. I have a full breakdown of each chakra that includes a yoga practice, discussion, and tips for balancing.

Coconut lemon scones are a delightful baked treat that combines tropical coconut flavors with the bright, tangy zest of lemon. They are tender and slightly crumbly, with a rich yet refreshing flavor profile.
Ingredients:
Scones
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold salted butter, cubed or grated
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large glass bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut the butter into the mixture using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse sand. Add the coconut.
Make a well in the center of the dry mixture and add ¾ cup of the heavy cream, beaten egg, and lemon juice. Mix the dough together. It should have a slightly dry texture, but not crumbly. Add an additional 1-2 tablespoons of heavy cream if the dough seems too dry.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it for 1 minute. Form the dough into a round 1-inch thick, and use a knife or a pizza 4. cutter to cut the round into 8 equal wedges. I also cut them one more time to make mini scones. Arrange the wedges in a round, but about 1 inch apart, on the baking sheet. Brush the wedges with 4 tablespoons heavy cream and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the scones are golden and the edges are lightly toasted.
For the glaze:
In a glass bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, lemon juice, and lemon essential oil. Drizzle the glaze on top of the warm scones.
Serve the scones warm or cold. Either way they will be delicious!
*Note: It is important to be sure you are using an essential oil that is safe for consumption. Many so called ‘essential oils’ from drugstores and grocery stores are quite toxic if taken internally. I choose to use only Certified Pure Therapuetic Grade doTERRA Essential oils. I recommended working closely with someone who can mentor you on the use of essential oils. You can also downloaded this free ebook that is a perfect guide for using essential oils.

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts used for various purposes, including aromatherapy, skincare, and overall wellness. Using essential oils for your physical and emotion health is such a great way to empower yourself. Here’s a beginner’s guide to using essential oils safely and effectively:
1. Understand Essential Oils
What Are They?: Highly concentrated extracts from plants, capturing their scents and beneficial properties.
Common Uses:
Aromatherapy (stress relief, energy boost)
Topical application (skin care, massage)
Household cleaning (natural cleaning solutions)
2. Popular Essential Oils
Lavender: Relaxation, sleep aid, skin-soothing.
Peppermint: Energy boost, headache relief, digestion.
Diffusion: Use a diffuser to disperse oils into the air for inhalation.
Inhalation: Add a drop to a tissue or your palms, then inhale deeply.
Topical Application
Dilution: Mix with a carrier oil (like coconut, jojoba, or almond oil) to avoid skin irritation. Common ratio: 1-2 drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil.
Spot Treatment: Apply to areas like wrists, temples, or soles of feet.
Baths
Add 3-5 drops to bathwater with a dispersant (like a tablespoon of carrier oil or Epsom salts) to avoid direct skin contact.
Household Use
Add to cleaning solutions for a natural, pleasant scent.
Use in DIY room sprays or linen mists.
4. Safety Guidelines
Dilution is Key: Never apply undiluted oils directly to your skin unless specified as safe by the manufacturer.
Patch Test: Test on a small area of skin before regular use.
Internal Use: Only consume oils if labeled as food-grade and advised by a healthcare professional.
Storage: Keep oils in dark glass bottles, away from heat and light.
Keep Away from Children and Pets: Some oils can be toxic to pets (like tea tree, eucalyptus, and citrus oils) and harmful if ingested.
5. Choosing Quality Oils
Look for labels like “100% pure” or “therapeutic grade.”
Check the Latin botanical name to confirm authenticity.
Purchase from reputable brands.
When I was first using essential oils I was so overwhelmed. I wasn’t sure what did what, if I was going to mess up or if I was going to make a horrible concoction, so I got a great resource book and starting learning. In no time I gained confidence and was able to learn how to use them safely and effectively.
Learning new things is exciting to me and this topic still excites me. When I am helping new people get started I often say, “remember when you had to learn how to cook?? You needed a recipe or cookbook, right?”…..Oils are so similar! We all need the equivalent to the Joy of Cooking when it comes to using essential oils. Here is my fave resource book to learn from.
Grab your resource book and commit to learning 1-2 oils a week! In no time you will be making up remedies, creating fabulous diffuser blends to switch up the mood in your space, tossing together a cool DIY and probably sharing your new knowledge with just about anyone!
The most important thing to remember is to choose your preferred company based on the ethics that align with you and your vision for life. I personally chose doTERRA. Here are three key reasons why doTERRA is often considered a great choice:
1. High-Quality Standards
CPTG® Certification: doTERRA uses a proprietary Certified Pure Tested Grade® (CPTG) process to ensure its oils are pure, potent, and free of contaminants. Each batch undergoes rigorous third-party testing.
Sourcing Transparency: The company shares detailed sourcing and testing results with consumers, emphasizing their commitment to quality and accountability.
2. Ethical and Sustainable Sourcing
Co-Impact Sourcing®: doTERRA partners with farmers and distillers worldwide to create sustainable and ethical sourcing relationships. They focus on fair wages and community development.
Environmental Commitment: doTERRA emphasizes environmentally responsible practices, ensuring their sourcing and production do not harm ecosystems.
3. Holistic Wellness and Education
Education and Support: The company provides extensive resources, including training for wellness advocates, usage guides, and customer support, to help users maximize the benefits of essential oils.
Product Variety: Beyond essential oils, doTERRA offers wellness products, including supplements, personal care, and cleaning solutions, promoting a holistic approach to health.
Keep this handy chart because it really can be as a simple as this, too.

Marigold Infused Body Butter
Marigolds are a relative to the ever popular calendula flower which is known for its skin healing properties. By infusing fractionated coconut oil with fresh marigold petals the body butter comes out silky, creamy and ultra soothing for skin. I added Wild orange, Grapefruit, Siam wood, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Green mandarin other pure essential oils.
Geranium Infused Body Butter
Geraniums are commonly referred to as poor man’s rose, both of which are known for their skin healing properties. By infusing fractionated coconut oil with fresh geranium petals the body butter comes out smooth, creamy and so soft. To enhance the floral theme, I added pure magnolia, jasmine, and geranium essential oils.
Lavender Infused Body Butter
Lavender is known for its soothing and calming properties. By infusing fractionated coconut oil with fresh lavender blooms the body butter is perfect for a bedtime application to support sleep. Lavender is also one of the most calming plants so this is a great choice for any skin issues or simply to help dryness. To enhance the lavender, I added pure lavender essential oil.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melodie Beattie
Dear Friends,
This is a special time of year when we find ourselves being more thankful and extra appreciative. A deliberate practice of gratitude can truly change your life. Many years ago I began a daily gratitude journal and after a short time I realized that throughout my day I was looking for things to be able to write down in my journal. What a life-changer to be on the look-out for what is good versus what is lack. In times of fear or sadness, I can open up a past journal and be reminded of all that I really do have in my life.
Research says that a gratitude practice can boost the neurotransmitter serotonin and activate the brain stem to produce dopamine. Dopamine is our brain’s pleasure chemical. The more we think positive, grateful thoughts, the healthier and happier we feel. Amazing, eh?
When we think of abundance we often think of the tangible, material, often obvious things in our life to be grateful for; house, food, car, employment, etc. I would like to offer up acknowledging the abundance of less visible things, such as the love you feel for someone, the colors that surround your life, the sounds of music and laughter, the aroma that fills your home from a hearty soup, or the growth that you have shown this year.
I have a few ways you can join me in developing a mindfulness practice and maintaining a grateful heart. I am sharing my 10 days of Gratitude Virtual Yoga Series and I have created a fun Mindfulness group that will give you daily tips!
Soak in all that is untouchable. Fill your heart with the fullness of simply being alive and experiencing the sensations each day offers. I often use my five senses to tap into abundance in any given moment. Think about what you have touched, tasted, smelled, heard and seen just today!
As I reflect on my life, I know for sure that I am incredibly thankful for the path that has led me to each of you. What a journey the last seventeen years has been!
Always grateful,
Stacie

The evidence for the impact of gratitude isn’t just anecdotal. There is scientific evidence for the benefits of gratitude. There have been numerous studies on the effects of gratitude. It’s been scientifically proven to improve the lives of those who practice it.
However, as the cold winds begin to blow, we know we must hold on tight to our branches until it’s our time to fall. It’s interesting because none of us want to drop. We just want to stay in our spot, high above the ground and admire the magnificent atmosphere fall brings.
1.Gratitude Makes You Mentally Stronger Living a grateful lifestyle can make you mentally tougher. It doesn’t mean you won’t still have to deal with stress. It just means that you’ll be able to deal with it much easier. Stress won’t have as debilitating an effect if you’re practicing gratitude regularly. In one study, it was shown that Vietnam veterans who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) fared much better when they practiced gratitude. As a matter of fact, the study made it clear that the veterans who practiced gratitude were able to cope with their condition much more effectively than those who didn’t.
2.Gratitude Makes You Healthier. Gratitude is not only great for your mental health, it can help you physically too. It can boost your immune system and make it easier for you to adopt healthier habits. It’s been shown that those who practice gratitude also participate in other healthy activities such as exercising and eating healthier. In another study, it was shown that gratitude has other health benefits. In this study, people who suffered from neuromuscular disorders were examined. The group that wrote in a gratitude journal daily were found to be much healthier than the control group. They also slept better and reported fewer health symptoms.
3.Gratitude Makes You More Productive. Robert A. Emmons, one of the leading authorities on the science of gratitude said this about one of his studies: “Participants who kept gratitude lists were more likely to have made progress toward important personal goals (academic, interpersonal and health-based) over a two-month period compared to subjects in the other experimental conditions.”
4. Gratitude Makes You Happier. Focusing on the things that are going right in our lives is absolutely crucial if you’re going to be happy. After all, how can you be happy if you always focus on the negative parts of your life? Gratitude enables you to really see how blessed you truly are.
5. Gratitude Allows You To Impact Others. Everyone wants to feel like they matter. It’s the reason we do many of the things we do. When we help others, we feel a sense of significance. When you express heartfelt gratitude to someone else, you are showing them how important they really are. You’re drawing attention to an action they took that made your life better.
Thank You
So many of you have been so supportive of me during this unusual time in our lives. I am so blessed that I can continue to share my passion and touch your life. It means a lot to me that you know that you are very important to me, and I am incredibly grateful that our paths have crossed. I believe that now more than ever, we need to recognize the people and meaningful connections that we all have.
As always, it is my hope that you stay healthy and happy in your mind, body and spirit.
Holistic health is an approach to well-being that considers the whole person. Mind, body, and spirit instead of just focusing on physical symptoms. It views health as a balance among these areas, each of which influences the others in creating overall wellness. Unlike conventional medicine that may concentrate on treating individual ailments, holistic health aims to uncover root causes of imbalances. It also helps to nurture each aspect to foster healing from within. This approach encourages looking at lifestyle, emotional well-being, and personal beliefs, emphasizing that true health is about harmony within ourselves.
The Mind
The mind in holistic health refers to mental and emotional well-being. Our thoughts, emotions, stress levels, and mental clarity all play a major role in our health. When we’re mentally balanced, we’re better equipped to handle life’s challenges, make healthy choices, and maintain positive relationships. Practices like mindfulness, meditation, and stress management can support mental clarity and emotional stability. This can help prevent or manage issues like anxiety, depression, or stress-related illnesses. Cultivating a healthy mind enhances our emotional resilience and contributes to better physical health.
The Body
The body in holistic health represents the physical aspect, focusing on maintaining the body’s strength, flexibility, and resilience. This includes physical activity, nutrition, sleep, and overall self-care practices that support bodily health. When we take care of our bodies—through movement, balanced eating, hydration, and rest—we’re better equipped to handle stress, fight off illnesses, and sustain energy. The body also directly impacts our mental and emotional states. For instance, exercise releases endorphins that improve mood, and good nutrition supports mental clarity.
The Spirit
The spirit aspect focuses on finding meaning, purpose, and connection in life. Spirit doesn’t necessarily refer to religion. Rather it’s more about feeling connected to something bigger than ourselves, whether through nature, relationships, personal beliefs, or a sense of inner peace. When we nurture our spirit, we feel a deeper sense of fulfillment and joy. This can motivate us to take better care of our bodies and minds. This spiritual wellness adds depth to holistic health, recognizing that our well-being isn’t just physical or mental. Spiritual wellness is also shaped by our sense of purpose and our connection to the world. Together, mind, body, and spirit create a foundation for lasting wellness and a more fulfilling, balanced life.
I have a complete three part series that goes a little deeper into these aspects of holistic health. We will learn techniques for keeping our holistic health optimal, including yoga, essential oils, breathing practices and crystals.
