Cooling Cucumber Mint Yogurt Salad — A Summer Recipe to Soothe Your Pitta
In Ayurveda, Pitta dosha governs the fire and heat in our bodies. When Pitta is balanced, we feel focused, energized, and warm in a good way. But too much Pitta—often triggered by hot weather, spicy foods, or stress—can lead to irritability, inflammation, and that uncomfortable overheating feeling.
This simple and refreshing Cucumber Mint Yogurt Salad is the perfect way to cool your system, hydrate, and calm that inner fire. The cucumbers and yogurt provide natural cooling and moisture, while mint and cilantro add soothing, digestive benefits that help reduce heat and balance Pitta.
Ingredients:
- 2 large cucumbers, peeled and diced
- 1 cup plain yogurt (or dairy-free coconut yogurt for a cooling twist)
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt to taste
- Optional: a pinch of black salt for extra cooling
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the diced cucumbers and yogurt.
- Stir in the chopped mint and cilantro.
- Add the roasted cumin powder, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with extra mint leaves if desired and enjoy!
This salad is perfect alongside grilled veggies, light meals, or simply on its own as a cooling snack. It balances Pitta by soothing the digestive fire, reducing heat, and replenishing moisture.
Enjoy this summer treat that feels like a fresh breeze on a warm day!
