Lifestyle Changes

Time for some Monday motivation?

The new year is around the corner and that is when many people look to making lifestyle changes. As a wellness coach I have walked the path and am grateful that at one point in my life I was burdened by weight.

For me, it wasn’t just the physical weight I was carrying that I wanted to shed. There was so much inner work that I did and as a result my radiant self emerged.

The first picture was taken six months after my first son was born—I was terrified and overwhelmed. A young 20 year old mom with a kid and a mortgage was a little daunting. I dove into motherhood and completely forgot about myself. I soon had two more kids and a bigger mortgage. It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I began to see myself as important and in need of self-care.

I started with walking daily (which I continue to this day) and I started making choices around food. I also started to really do the inner work that was required. I often say “I woke up”. And in that awakening, I truly began to emerge from the outer shell that I had placed around me.

As I began to shine my life began to change dramatically. There is a vibrancy to my essence that was not able to be felt when I was burdened by the heaviness physically and emotionally.

I’d love to walk along side you in your emerging and be there to guide you when it gets hard. My services include more than just yoga. I also offer wellness coaching and a holistic approach to health. It is never just about the weight and I would love to partner with you to reveal the inner parts of yourself that can be found with a solid plan.

Let’s do this!

Third Chakra

This morning I sat to plan my week and get centered heading into it. Sunday mornings are my usual time to get grounded and make plans and review my goals.

I also often pull angel cards and sometimes tarot cards. I giggled when the one card I pulled out of 65 to guide my present situation was the solar plexus chakra! I giggled because this is the chakra we are diving into this week in my home studio.

The third chakra—solar plexus—is a powerful one. Located in the area of the solar plexus, navel, and the digestive system, the fiery third chakra is called Manipura, the “lustrous gem.” Associated with the color yellow, this chakra is involved in self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation; it also governs digestion and metabolism. A healthy, spirited third chakra supports us in overcoming inertia, jump-starting our “get-up-and-go” attitude so that we can take risks, assert our will, and assume responsibility for our life. This chakra is also the place of our deep belly laughter, warmth, ease, and the vitality we receive from performing selfless service.

Some signs that the Solar Plexus Chakra is out of balance are:

Difficulty concentrating

Poor ability to make decisions or judge a situation accurately

A feeling that you are more important than other people

Trouble taking action or getting things done

To bring balance to the third chakra, a yoga practice focusing on strengthening the abdominal muscles, warrior postures and the breath of fire are helpful. Essentials oils that are spicy and supportive of the digestive system are helpful (ginger, coriander, clove and cinnamon) along with gemstones like citrine or topaz.

It’s going to be an awesome week! I feel the power and excitement of the third chakra driving me this week in my personal power and choice!

Vibrant Self

See this face? This is my 47 year old face who is so incredibly grateful to coming back into my Self.

I have lived fifteen years (or more) with an autoimmune disease. I also had multiple joint surgeries in my thirties and recently had three major hip tissue reconstruction surgeries. I am FINALLY my vibrant self again. I am back to doing things I love, like hiking. (You can follow me on Instagram to see my adventures)

The toll of chronic pain has been grueling for my mind, body and spirit. Over the years I lost people, relationships and even myself for awhile dealing with the pain and it’s effects on my life. I also had some steady friends and loved ones who never wavered at loving and showing up for me. In addition to more patience and acts of surrender than I could have ever imagined needing, I turned to my beloved essential oils to help me. For many years I just used oils because they smelled good. As I started doing my own research and playing with combos, I found the perfect blend for my body. The result—this vibrant gal is BACK and loving her pain free life.

Curious what my powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant combo is?

tumeric

pink pepper

copaiba

yarrow

DDR prime

I choose to only use doTERRA essential oils. Using less pure or store bought may not have the same benefits and are not recommended for internal use.

These oils are available in a special kit that is a huge bundled savings. You also get some amazing other products in the kit too! And a free car diffuser and three citrus oils.

If you’re ready to bring back your vibrant self too, message me and I will hook you up with the same oils that are helping me and access to my great community.

Beet Caprese

You either love beets or you do not. Either way, the non-beet lovers just may convert over this one.

Beet Caprese
Oven roast the beets until they become soft, about an hour depending on size. Cool the beets and then peel and slice the beets into hefty size coins.

Layer softened goat cheese with beet coins making stacks.

Simmer one cup balsamic vinegar in a sauce pan until it reduces into a sticky goodness.

Drizzle beet stacks with balsamic glaze, top with baby arugula and enjoy!
