After the Distillation Process

Have you ever wondered what happens to rest of the plant material that is left after the distillation process?

This was doterra’s corporate response and I loved it!

“After the essential oil is distilled each farmer determines the best way to reuse the spent plant material. These uses vary depending on the type of plant material, the region where it is grown, and the preference of the farmer. Some of the common ways the spent material are used include:

*as compost for the farmer’s fields
*as a recycled fuel source for the distillation boilers
*as a by-product that is sold as compost to the community
*as animal fodder
*as part of a closed-loop energy cycle where the spent material can even be used to generate enough energy to contribute back to the local energy grid

Every effort is made, where possible, to find ways to replenish the environment in a positive way.”
How amazing is that?29342377_10157280104117995_2706207933422632960_n.jpg
